Christina Tam Presents at the Society for Social Work and Research conference discussing Housing Options for Transition Age Youth Exiting Public Systems

The key takeaway messages are:

-- Housing facilities are not related to where youth enter foster care or formerly incarcerated youth reenter the community.

--Housing for transition age youth is predominantly located in low-income areas.

--Nonprofits and policymakers for transition age housing are encouraged to build effective partnerships to ensure that supportive housing for transition age youth are situated in areas that provide more opportunities for these young people and promote a healthier trajectory in the transition to adulthood.

--Social workers are encouraged to provide transportation assistance to transition age youth with regards to accessing resources outside of their zip code areas.
