“Just Make Sure You Can Get up to Parent the Next Day” presented at Society for Social Work and Research

Jennifer Price Wolf and Raul Chavez present a qualitative study examining how parents make decisions about when, where, and how much to drink alcohol.

The main points of this presentation were:

-Parent decisions about whether and how much alcohol to drink differ by drinking context

-Parents view drinking with family members at large get-togethers as safe, due to the presence of other adults to monitor children

-Drinking at home (regardless of the amount) was viewed as setting a bad example for children
