UCLA professor connects L.A. social workers and service providers through new website

Dr. Bridget Freisthler, head of the Spatial Analysis lab, has been working with her team of impressive Doctoral Students at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs to develop the Needs Portal. The Needs Portal is a web-based program for the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) that enables caseworkers to find out in real time which community agencies are available to help families whose children have already been or are on the verge of being removed from their homes. The Needs Portal began development in June 2013 by Dr. Freisthler, her team, and members of the DCFS Torrance Regional Office (Rosa Tang and Howard Kunitz) and includes over 100 community agency participants from 12 cities.  If you would like to read more about the Needs Portal, you may go to: http://newsroom.ucla.edu/stories/ucla-professor-connects-l-a-social-workers-and-service-providers-through-new-website
